2016 Monsoon Fest


In its inaugural year, the Monsoon Festival ran from August 11-21 in Vancouver and Surrey, with a deliberate spotlight on South Asian theatre.

During a span of 11 days, festival highlights included; two critically acclaimed International plays, HONOUR: Confessions of a Mumbai Courtesan (New York) and Meena's Dream (Washington, D.C.); the return of the ever popular I Can't Believe It's Not Butter Chicken gang with their unique brand of hilarious sketch comedy; an Opening Night Reception (including sneak peek performances from the 10 days ahead); a Closing Night Celebration (with a special performance by Jiv Parasram); and to close the festival a special full-length Punjabi play Kehar Singh Di Maut (The Death of Kehar Singh), presented in partnership with Rangmanch Theatre, directed by Roopinderjit Sharma, and written by prominent playwright & theatre director Ajmer Singh Aulakh.
