Black Lives Matter

We stand in solidarity with our Black brothers and sisters, as we struggle to find the words to express the sadness we feel after the senseless death of another unarmed Black citizen at the hands of the police.

History has shown us that during times of protest and activism, the arts have the power to drive change. As a South Asian arts organization, we stand by our core values of community and integrity and know that equality, dignity, and justice are possible if we continue to work together.

Let us take this time to educate ourselves on the issues and how we can be mechanisms for change. Let us talk to one another, process the events that led us to this point, reach out to cultural centres and groups, and support one another in peaceful acts of social justice to end systemic racism.

We may encounter many defeats but we must not be defeated.

There is much to learn, but there are resources available to help. A good place to start is blacklivesmattervancouver.com.
