ZAHIDA RAHEMTULLA is a playwright and short story writer. Her first play, The Wrong Bashir, a farcical comedy about the Ismaili community, premiered in Vancouver with Touchstone Theatre to a sold-out run, and will have a Toronto premiere with Crow’s Theatre in May 2024. The Frontliners, a comedic drama about refugee resettlement, won the Fringe New Play Prize and was staged as a workshop production through Playwrights Theatre Centre's New Play in Development Prize. Both plays have been recognised with several awards, including a Playwrights Guild of Canada Tom Hendry Award, Theatre BC Play of Special Merit Award, and runner-up for the national Voaden Prize in Playwriting. Zahida loves working with new playwrights, and most recently worked with Tarragon Theatre's East of Tarragon Project in Scarborough.
