Join us for the second iteration of our salon series, Momentum, which debuted at the 2022 Monsoon Festival.
This year features award-winning actress Nimet Kanji and her celebrated body of work. With chai, snacks and conversation, we will be reading excerpts from three plays, showcasing characters and stories from Nimet’s extensive career.
This inspiring event buoys the collective momentum of South Asians in theatre, bringing to focus our own canon and disrupting the narrative that we are few and far between.

About Nimet Kanji
Award winning Nimet Kanji began her acting/schmacting in Nairobi, Kenya. Upon her arrival to Canada, her career thrived. Some of her theatre credits include 'Contractions' (Northern Light Theatre), 'Victim Impact' (Theatre Conspiracy), 'Sultans of the Street' (Carousel Theatre), '9 Parts of Desire' (The Maggie Tree), 'Bombay Black' (2017 Vancouver Fringe), 'Dil Ka' (Ruby Slippers Theatre). She also works in TV/Film and Voice. Her TV/Film credits include 'Under The Bridge', 'Puppy Love', and ‘The Good Doctor'. Asked if she regretted giving up her day job, she replied, "Nope".
